•The work’s Latin title is Tractatus Theologico-Politicus = ‘A Theological/Political Treatise’. The political part of the work starts with chapter 16.
Location. 'Hamburg' (Amsterdam, ‘in ’t Martelaarsboek’, ‘Dirk van Assensteegh’) Spinoza first commenced work on the ‘Theological-Political Treatise’ in the late summer of 1665. He outlined his plans about the project for the first time in a (now lost) letter dated 4 September to his friend Henry Oldenburg in London.
