19 de out. de 2009 · Flash forward 40 years and Andrew Lloyd Webber wants to make a musical based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and the rest is history (for the uninitiated, these poems are the backbone for the lyrics of the musical Cats - the real one not the 2019 movie which adds some other things).
In his book of practical cats, Old Possum, (1888 -- 1965), a great modernist poet, let his hair down. This little book, consists of 15 poems with the last one, "Cat Morgan Introduces Himself", added in 1952. The poems are short, rhythmical and rhymed. Eliot intended them for young children.

The acclaimed poet of The Waste Land, Four Quartets, and Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, among numerous other poems, prose, and works of drama, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1948.
