In his 1961 essay, Esslin classified four playwrights as leaders of the movement: Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, Arthur Adamov and Jean Genet.

That play in particular doesn't really "go anywhere," but is more about certain moralistic concepts. Another potential comparison could be drawn to the plays of David Mamet, which are often about character situations, and characters the audience isn't necessarily going to like.
