Sir Sidney Poitier KBE ( Miami, 20 de fevereiro de 1927 — Los Angeles, 6 de janeiro de 2022) foi um ator, diretor, autor e diplomata bahamense estadunidense. [ 1]
Sidney Poitier KBE ( ⫽ ˈpwɑːtjeɪ ⫽ PWAH-tyay; [1] February 20, 1927 – January 6, 2022) was a Bahamian–American actor, film director, and diplomat. In 1964, he was the first Black actor and first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. [2]
One of these films, The Defiant Ones (1958), earned Poitier his first Academy Award nomination as Best Actor. Five years later, he won the Oscar for Lilies of the Field (1963), the first African American to win for a leading role.
