8 de mai. de 2024 · Elizabeth Bowes Gregory, later known as Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, was the wife of King George VI and the mother of Queen Elizabeth II. She was born in 1895 to Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and Cecilia Cavendish-Bentinck.

It is seen everyday on English coins and banknotes, and was worn in the late Queen Elizabeth’s official accession photographs in 1952.
