18 de mai. de 2024 · Stanley had been brought up in the Catholic faith, and after school, entered the service of his kinsman, Edward Stanley, 3rd Earl of Derby (c1508-1572). In the year of the Spanish Armada, 1588, Stanley was the head of a recusant army some 700 hundred strong, in the Netherlands, and was ready to embark with his invasion force in support of the Spanish.

22 de mai. de 2024 · William Stanley (Battle of Bosworth) Sir William Stanley (c. 1435 [1] – 10 February 1495) was an English soldier and the younger brother of Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby. Stanley fought with his troops in several battles of the Wars of the Roses. He was born at Lytham, Lancashire, the younger son of Thomas Stanley, 1st Lord Stanley.
