Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, KG, KT, GCSI, GCMG, GCStJ (Leopold George Duncan Albert; 7 April 1853 – 28 March 1884) was the eighth child and youngest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Leopold was later created Duke of Albany , Earl of Clarence, and Baron Arklow.

28 de mar. de 2014 · 130 years ago today, Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany passed away in Cannes from a cerebral haemorrhage. He was thirty-one years of age. The Prince had been in Cannes since February on the orders of his medical team, who insisted that the warmer climate in southern France would benefit the Prince’s joint pain brought on by his haemophilia.

He was a delicate child having inherited the haemophilia gene from his mother, and he also suffered from epilepsy. Leopold studied at Christ Church College Oxford and was president of the Oxford University Chess Club.
She later met with Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, youngest son of Queen Victoria, at the suggestion of his mother. The two became engaged in November 1881. On 27 April 1882, Leopold and Helen married in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. After their wedding, Leopold and Helen resided at Claremont House.
