He was educated in theosophy by the British social reformer Annie Besant , who proclaimed him the coming “World Teacher,” a messianic figure who would bring about world enlightenment.
The Krishnamurti Foundation of America preserves and disseminates the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti and facilitates contemporary educational programs. It was founded in 1969 by Jiddu Krishnamurti, who lived from 1895 to 1986, and is regarded as one of the greatest philosophical and spiritual figures of the twentieth century.
Jiddu Krishnamurti was born 1895 in the town of Madanapalle in then-colonial India, to a family of middle class Telugu Brahmins.His father was associated with the Theosophical Society, and in the early part of the 20th century young Krishnamurti was promoted by the Adyar, India based leadership of the Society as the so-called World Teacher, a new messiah.
