William Lamb (September 7, 1835 – March 23, 1909) was an American newspaper editor, politician, businessman, and soldier, noted for his role as a Confederate States Army officer in commanding the Confederate garrison at Fort Fisher at the mouth of the Cape Fear River during the Civil War.
William Lamb was one of Scotland’s finest sculptors and artists. He established a studio in Montrose in 1935 and a community group - The Friends of William Lamb Studio - was formed to support the local council who opened the studio as a local museum in 1978.

Lamb accepted his first ministerial post when he became chief secretary for Ireland in George Canning’s brief coalition government of 1827. After Canning’s death, he was associated with a liberal Tory group led by William Huskisson and the third Viscount Palmerston; but all three men left the Duke of Wellington’s government in 1828.
