He was working on another project with Barry Goudreau when "Walk On" was being produced. Speculation has it that they were lip synching everything because they sounded too much like their albums and you can't sing lead, background and harmony vocals at the same time.

Take a student from MIT who is ridiculously smart, but a bit nerdy, and then have that kid eventually find his way into a recording studio with some mates and have them do a take on Phil Spector.
