The monkey tail action itself, behind the barrel, is nicely marked WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT. Lock is marked WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO and dated 1867 inside a triangle. The gun is serial number 6480. The butt plate, trigger guard and nose cap are all of brass, cleaning rod is steel.

Brass fore-end cap, triggerguard and buttplate all numbered 830 as is the the breech. Single browned steel barrel band with saber bayonet lug.

26 de jul. de 2019 · So there was an octagonal bullet at one time. In the same manner as Whitworth's hexagonal. I wonder if this was the fabled Westley Richards muzzle loading bullet for the Monkey Tail? I have never seen any picture, diagram or description of their muzzle loading bullet. If you know better please post.
