Spelling conventions. There are different conventions for spelling Latin. Some authors/publishers/countries distinguish v and u in their spelling, some prefer not to. Titivillus is capable of spellchecking both variants, but you must choose. When you first install Titivillus, you are asked to choose one of five presets.
In most printed texts, long vowels will be marked with a long mark or macron. Latin contains the same vowels as English: a, e, i, o, u. For the most part, they are mostly pronounced like English vowels depending on their length. /a/ – ‘a’ like in “apart”. agricola (farmer) – uh-grih-ko-luh. /ā/ – ‘a’ like in “father”.
