Coleridge is most remembered today for collaborating with his friend and fellow Romantic poet William Wordsworth on Lyrical Ballads (1798) and for poems such as “Kubla Khan,” and “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”

Samuel Taylor Coleridge entrou para o Jesus College, Cambridge, em 1793. No ano seguinte conheceu o escritor Robert Southey, com quem planejou o estabelecimento de uma comunidade utópica. Morou com Southey em Bristol, onde começou a fazer conferências sobre teologia e política. Coleridge publicou seus primeiros poemas em 1796.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (October 21, 1772 – July 25, 1834) was an English lyric poet and essayist, described by John Stuart Mill as one of the seminal minds of his age. The son of an Anglican clergyman, Coleridge became a Unitarian, entering the ministry in 1798, although later in life he rejected Unitarian theology as incompatible with Christian belief.
