24 de dez. de 2016 · Ferdinand Verbiest was a prominent Jesuit mathematician and astronomer who served the Chinese emperor. Born in West Flanders into a family of landed gentry, Verbiest received his secondary education in Bruges and Kortrijk and after a brief stay at the Arts Faculty of Louvain University (1640/1641), became a Jesuit novice of the Flemish-Belgian province in Mechlin (1641–1643).
