For more than four decades, the brothers worked side-by-side to create an entertainment empire. While Walt was the dreamer and face of the company, it was Roy who developed the business and financing plans that enabled those dreams to become a reality.

As a child, he and his younger brother Walt learned about hard work and dedication from their father, Elias Disney, who purchased a newspaper route in Kansas City, Missouri (where the family then lived) in 1911. Elias put his sons to work each and every day.
