Lady Anne Hyde, Duchess of York (22 March 1638 – 31 March 1671) was the first wife of James, Duke of York (the future King James II of England and VII of Scotland). She was also and the mother of two queens, Mary II of England and Scotland and Anne of Great Britain .
Anne (February 6, 1665 – August 1, 1714) became Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland on March 8, 1702, succeeding William III and II. Her Roman Catholic father, James II and VII, was forcibly deposed in 1688; her brother-in-law and her sister then became joint monarchs as William III-II and Mary II, the only such case in British history.

Biografi. Anne Hyde var dotter till Edward Hyde, earl av Clarendon, och Frances Aylesbury. Hennes far var rådgivare åt den landsflyktige Karl II av England i Nederländerna sedan 1646, där hon själv var hovdam hos Karls syster Maria, prinsessa av Oranien. Anne och prins Jakob lärde känna varandra i det engelska exilhovet i Haag omkring 1656.
Anne Hyde, daughter of Sir Edward Hyde, spent her childhood at the court of Princess Mary of Orange in Breda. In 1656 she accompanied Mary to her exiled brother Charles II's court in Paris, where she met the future James II.
