VANILLA SKY schafft es einerseits, das Original sehr eng nachzuerzählen, ihm aber durch sehr intensive Kamera-Arbeit und ein paar zusätzlichen philosophischen Allegorien (z.B. der berühmte Monet-Himmel) noch ein paar neue Facetten hinzuzufügen. Die gesamte Szenerie wirkt jetzt oftmals noch mehr wie ein Trip wie im Original!
