9 de nov. de 2020 · By November 1569, key Northern earls, such as Charles Neville, 6th Earl of Westmorland and Thomas Percy, 7th Earl of Northumberland, had had enough of the situation and began gathering troops. Their aim was to depose Elizabeth I replace her with Mary, Queen of Scots, who would marry Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk, and restore Catholicism as the country’s faith.
Charles Neville, 6th Earl of Westmorland (18 August 1542 – 16 November 1601) was an English nobleman and one of the leaders of the Rising of the North in 1569. He was the son of Henry Neville, 5th Earl of Westmorland and Lady Anne Manners, second daughter of Thomas Manners, 1st Earl of Rutland .
When Charles Neville was born in 1569, in Durham, England, United Kingdom, his father, Charles Neville 6th Earl of Westmorland, was 27 and his mother, Jane Howard, was 36. He died in 1571, at the age of 2.
