  2. David Bierk, an internationally-known conceptual painter and a creative force behind Peterborough's arts community, died Thursday at the city's hospital. Mr. Bierk, 59, succumbed to leukemia. He is survived by his wife and manager Liz Bierk and his eight children -- Lisa, Sebastian, Heather, Zac, Jeff, Alex, Nick and Charlie, and grandchildren Paris and London Bierk, and Hannah and Creighton Hare.
