Only this time, the adventures aren't so much "wacky" as life- and liberty-threatening. Huckleberry Finn is a poor kid whose dad is an abusive drunk. Huck runs away, and immediately encounters another runaway. But this runaway isn't just escaping a mean dad; he's escaping an entire system of racially based oppression. He's escaping slavery.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is often considered Twain's greatest masterpiece. Combining his raw humor and startlingly mature material, Twain developed a novel that directly attacked many of the traditions the South held dear at the time of its publication.

Despite that the Huckleberry’s odyssey could seem to be a complementary history from Mark Twain’s book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, there is no need to read it to understand the present narrative. The first book edition was delivered in 1884. The narrative is told by Finn.
