Timothy Leary. Timothy Francis Leary was an American writer, psychologist, futurist, modern pioneer and advocate of psychedelic drug research and use, and one of the first people whose remains have been sent into space. An icon of 1960s counterculture, Leary is most famous as a proponent of the therapeutic and spiritual benefits of LSD.

Dr. Timothy Leary Interview. During the early 1990s Carolyn and I visited the late psychologist Timothy Leary a number of times at his home in Beverly Hills. Timothy was a good friend and a great inspiration, as well as a public icon of great controversy and one of the most influential psychologist-philosophers of the twentieth century.
Dr. Leary served as a member of a select Special Operations Surgical Team where he completed two combat tours of Afghanistan. For his role supporting combat operations he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal upon completion of his military service.
