Language Studies: Italian. Duke requires all students to demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language at the intermediate or advanced level. Courses suitable for meeting this requirement are designed with an FL (Foreign Language) curriculum code.
The program brings together talented, motivated students from VIU member universities in a truly multicultural, international, and interdisciplinary environment. Although no previous knowledge of Italian is required, it is strongly recommended that students begin study of the language before arriving in Venice.
Our Italian & European Studies help develop language skills in their social and cultural contexts. The combination of linguistic and cultural competency is excellent preparation for a variety of professional careers in business, government, the humanities, and science.
