World Population Prospects publishes United Nations population estimates for all world countries and every year from 1950 to 2020, as well as projections for different scenarios (low, middle and high variants) from 2020 to 2100. Continents are large landmasses that are supported on tectonic plates. There are currently seven: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. Regarding size, the largest continent is Asia which covers nearly 44.4 million square kilometers. The smallest is Australia at around 7.6 million square kilometers.
