Firstly because she felt abandoned when Marnie died but because her biological mother abandoned her to. So in the timeline of her life, the first time she was abandoned lead to meet Marnie. It makes sense that feeling this another time evokes the memory of Marnie. I hope that you still love this movie. It’s one my favorite by far.
