The early 90s thriller fest continues. As a movie of its own it’s not bad, as a remake of the original, it’s not good at all. Based on the Flannan Isle mystery, The Vanishing combines a tense closed-quarters atmosphere with an equally intense performances from Peter Mullan, Gerard Butler & Connor Swindells but the directionless & predictable script lets them down. The Flannan Isle mystery helds a hell of a lot more potential than this movie brought to the screen.
