Histopathologically, OP may signify a primary disease and be observed as a contiguous disease or as a minor component of other diseases.

9 de set. de 2020 · Aspiration pneumonia is incited by foreign materials, often of oral or gastric origin (saliva, food), that enter the bronchial tree. In general, Gastric contents is related to aspiration pneumonia and present in the lungs of 30% to 40% of infants whose deaths are attributed to sudden infant death[ 5 , 6 ].
Infraclinical particulate matter aspiration pneumonia may thus be a relatively common cause of lung nodules presenting with OP pattern at histopathology. Interestingly, the prevalence of active or former smoking appears high in series of isolated nodular OP (57–93 %) [ 39 – 43 ].
