18 de ago. de 2021 · It has been on display in the Old Library at Trinity College from the mid 19th century, and now attracts in excess of 500,000 visitors a year. Since 1953 it has been bound in four volumes. Two volumes can normally be seen, one opened to display a major decorated page, and one to show two pages of script.
4 de jan. de 2022 · The Long Room is the old Library of Trinity College and one of the country’s most beautiful and significant libraries. Located on the floor immediately above the Book of lels Exhibition, the Long Room has been in use since 1732 and hosts over 200 000 books: since 1801 the Library has the right to claim a free copy of every book published in Britain and Ireland.
Trinity College is an educational institution comprising more than 1,200 students and 190 Fellows and 350 full- and part-time members of staff. All undergraduate students and some Fellows live and work in College, in accommodation ranging from rooms in seventeenth-century courts to twentieth-century blocks.
Trinity College’s Library and the Book of Kells were on my must-see list. Definitely book tickets in advance, as they sell out quickly. The Book of Kells exhibit is remarkable, especially in terms of how the book has been preserved for so many years. But the true highlight for me was the long room — an ultimate book lovers’ paradise.
