Sovereign's 200Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. CC 222 Commissioning Parade - 14th April 2023. On Friday 14th April 2023, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst hosted its 200th Sovereign's Parade. At this very special parade, the Sovereign, King Charles III was in attendance, his first visit to the event as monarch.
The Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst is where the elite of the British Army train to be officers. Cadets arrive for nearly a year of training in the leafy expanses of this military enclave on the Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey border. Founded in the early 1800s, the buildings are suitably prestigious and filled with tradition.
The Sandhurst Collection also preserves and manages the archives of the academy. The archives contain records of the academy and its predecessors; the Royal Military College Sandhurst 1799-1939 and the Royal Military Academy Woolwich 1741-1939. It also maintains the archive of the current academy which was established in 1947.
