A: The categories feature is new in 7th Heaven 2.0. They exist for 2 reasons: So you know more about what the content of the mod is, and more importantly, they help 7th Heaven to auto sort the mod load order for you when you click the Auto Sort button. Mods and catalogs must be updated in order to support 7H 2.0 categories.

As you might know, I wrote a install guide and FAQ to make it as smooth as possible to get Remako running on FF7 (it needed to be converted first and then needed 7th Heaven 1.53 to load the mod in-game). Even with all the help, people still couldn't always figure it out. 7th Heaven 2.0 removes all of that.
7th Heaven is a modification manager for the game Final Fantasy VII for the PC. It is named after Tifa's bar and hideout for the group AVALANCHE. Mods allow you to change nearly any aspect of the game, including, but not limited to: music, movies, SFX, character/NPC/enemy models, gameplay, battle/world/field textures, animations, skill/spell ...
2) 7th Heaven will read a 2-byte value from a location in memory (0xCC15D0 - this is the 'FieldID' variable). If it becomes 0xD5 or 0x160 then the files in the 'sewer' folder will become active, and so aaba.p inside char.lgp will also be replaced. 3) 7th Heaven will also check memory location 0xDC08DC (this is the PPV variable).
