Victor Petrus Horta nació en Gante el 6 de enero de 1861 en el seno de una familia numerosa. Era el decimocuarto de quince hijos. Su madre Henrica, conocida como Henriette Coppieters, era la segunda esposa de Petrus Jacobus Joannes, que ya tenía diez hijos de su primer matrimonio.

Victor Horta (* 6. Januar 1861 in Gent; † 8. September 1947 in Etterbeek) war ein belgischer Jugendstil -Architekt. Er wurde zu Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts durch die Neuartigkeit seiner Wohnhäuser international bekannt. Für seine Verdienste um die Architektur wurde ihm 1932 von König Albert I. von Belgien der Adelstitel „Baron“ verliehen.

Welcome to the family house and workshop of architect Victor Horta. Built between 1898 and 1901, the two buildings are typical of Art Nouveau at its height.
