Gerhard von Scharnhorst på Commons. Gerhard Johann David von Scharnhorst (født 12. november 1755 i Bordenau, i dag Neustadt am Rübenberge, død 28. juni 1813 i Praha) var en prøyssisk general og politiker, kjent for sitt forfatterskap, sine banebrytende hærreformer og sitt lederskap under Napoleonskrigene .
Der Name des preußischen Heeresreformers Gerhard von Scharnhorst (1755–1813) ist fest mit der Einführung der allgemeinen Wehrpflicht verbunden. Er stand damit am Anfang einer Epoche, deren mögliches Ende zu den viel diskutierten Themen der Gegenwart gehört.
