Das Cabaret Voltaire ist ein 1916 gegründeter Kulturort im Zürcher Niederdorf. Es gilt als Geburtsort des Dadaismus und diente gleichzeitig als Club, Ausstellungsraum , Beiz und Bühne . Während des Ersten Weltkriegs gründeten vor allem junge Emigranten die gleichnamige Künstlerkneipe, um den Zeitumständen als Gemeinschaft künstlerisch zu entfliehen. [1]
Im Cabaret Voltaire treten Sophie Taeuber-Arps Briefe, vereinzelte Arbeiten, (beispielsweise eine noch nie gezeigte Kette im Besitz von Johanna Lohse) sowie Zeugnisse ihrer Tätigkeit als Lehrerin für textilen Entwurf in der Kunstgewerbschule Zürich in den Dialog mit Werken der Genfer Künstlerin Mai-Thu Perret (*1976, Genf).
