Formada em 1969, a banda foi contratada pela Beacon Records e lançou seu primeiro álbum de estúdio, UFO 1, em 1970. Após diversas mudanças na formação e alguns discos lançados, o UFO encontrou o sucesso com o álbum Lights Out, de 1977, que foi aclamado pela crítica e agradou o público com as músicas “Too Hot To Handle”, “Lights Out” e “Love To Love”.
