Então, a série de TV The Man from Atlantis (O Homem do Fundo do Mar) fracassou e os executivos não queriam associar o filme a esse programa, então ele se tornou Warlords of the Deep. No entanto, Columbia, que financiou parcialmente, achou que isso era muito perto de The Deep (O Fundo do Mar), então o título foi alterado novamente para Warlords of Atlantis.
