4 de jan. de 2003 · This film comes based on Doris Lessing’s novel of the same name Memoirs of a Survivor (1974). Memoirs of a Survivor is what one might kindly call a flawed film. It feels like former editor David Gladwell having come along twenty years too late for the French New Wave – indeed, the time travel scenes remind a good deal of the New Wave film Je T’aime, Je T’aime (1968).
With the help of her teenage companion Emily (Leonie Mellinger), D tries to make her way, and in order to cope, she often escapes into a fantasy world in which she lives in genteel Victorian surroundings in the 19th century. David Gladwell. Director, Writer. Doris Lessing. Novel.

Memoirs of a Survivor. Based on the famous novel by Doris Lessing, this is the story of 'D', a housewife trying to carry on after a cataclysmic war. Garbage is piled high in the streets, the near-derelict buildings are covered with graffiti, the electricity supplies are variable and water is collected from a van.
