31 de mar. de 2016 · Douglas Wilmer, who began a long association with Sherlock Holmes when he ably portrayed Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary sleuth on a 1960s series for the BBC, died Thursday. He was 96.
Douglas Wilmer (8 January 1920 – 31 March 2016) was an English actor. He was best known for playing Sherlock Holmes in the 1965 TV series . He also appeared in Jason and the Argonauts , the Pink Panther movies A Shot in the Dark (1964) and Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978), The Vampire Lovers (1970), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974), and Octopussy (1983).

31 de mar. de 2016 · Stage and screen actor Douglas Wilmer, best known for portraying Sherlock Holmes in the 1960s BBC series, died today at Ipswich Hospital in Suffolk, England following a short illness. He was 96.
Giles Cooper wrote the adaptation and Douglas Wilmer was cast as Holmes and Nigel Stock as Watson, with Felix Felton as Dr. Grimesby Roylott. [3] The hour-long pilot was aired as an episode of the BBC anthology series Detective [2] [14] on 18 May [3] and was popular enough to re-air on 25 September [3] this time under the banner of Encore which was a BBC2 repeat slot.
