Despair is by no means a bad film, but it’s the least Fassbinder-y of all the Fassbinder I’ve seen up to this point, and the convolution of the narrative tried my patience at times; not to mention the fact that I wasn’t expecting an English-language film either, though this again is not necessarily a bad thing.
