Third Man, The. The series bore next to no resemblance to Graham Greene’s original book or, indeed, to Carol Reed’s 1949 movie version of it, starring Orson Welles. Instead, this version resurrected dark and treacherous black marketeer Harry Lime (Michael Rennie) from the sewers of post-war Vienna and turned him into a suave amateur sleuth.
One Kind Word. When Harry rescues a pretty woman from an attempted suicide, he is recognized as a post-war black-marketeer from Vienna. British intelligence asks his assistance to bring to justice another black-marketeer who uses children to explode land mines, thereby enabling him to cross behind the Iron Curtain with contraband. 8.4/10.
