Henry Pole, 1st Baron Montagu (also written Montague or Montacute; circa 1492 – January 1539), was an English nobleman, the only holder of the title Baron Montagu under its 1514 creation, and one of the relatives whom King Henry VIII of England had executed for treason.
22 de dez. de 2022 · Henry Pole, 1st Baron Montagu (c. 1492 – January 9, 1539) was most famous as one of the peers in the trial of Anne Boleyn. He was the oldest son of ''Margaret, Countess of Salisbury'' (godmother to Lady Mary Tudor) and ''Sir Richard Pole''. His brother, Reginald Cardinal Pole, became the last Catholic Archbishop of Canterbury under Queen Mary I.
12 de mai. de 2018 · Henry Pole the Younger, the teenage son of Lord Montagu and grandson of Margaret of Salisbury was sent to the Tower in November 1538 – he was not charged, he was not executed…he simply failed to re-appear in public – and he doesn’t have the same cachet as the Princes in the Tower so tends to remain largely forgotten.
In 1530, at the age of 38, his occupation is listed as justice of the peace in Sussex, England. He died on 18 February 1539, in Tower Hill, Wayland, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America, at the age of 47, and was buried in Tower of London, Middlesex, England.
HENRY POLE, Lord Montague or Montacute (1492?-1539), born about 1492, was eldest son of Sir Richard Pole (d. 1505), by his wife Margaret [see Pole, Margaret]. He obtained a special livery of his father's lands, viz. the manors of Ellesborough and Medmenham in Buckinghamshire, on 5 July 1513.
