10 de mar. de 2014 · Not to be muddled with Aussie pop-rapper Iggy Azalea‘s upcoming debut The New Classic, The Classic is the new LP from Joan Wasser – AKA Joan As Police Woman – and her first since early 2011.
Joan Wasser (Joan As Police Woman) was born in Maine USA in July 1970. She was named after Joan of Arc, adopted with her brother at infancy just outside New York City at a time when that city was truly alive with possibilities for those with a creative disposition.
Early violin was provided by Debbie Fox. With Fox's involvement, nearly all of the band's songs had electric violin tracks. Around 1992, the "classic line-up" consisted of Derby (bass guitar and lead vocals), Masunaga (guitar), Kevin March (drums) and Joan Wasser (violin). Many of the band's early recordings were engineered by Masunaga.
1 de jun. de 2014 · Wasser says the name Joan As Police Woman is a deliberate reference to the TV show starring Angie Dickenson — and also deliberately funny. While still startlingly honest, The Classic is decidedly happier than Joan As Police Woman’s previous albums. Wasser has not lost her knack for lyrics that are surprisingly candid and personal.
