Born in Boston's North End in December, 1734, Paul Revere was the son of Apollos Rivoire, a French Huguenot (Protestant) immigrant, and Deborah Hitchbourn, daughter of a local artisan family. At about the age of 13, Apollos arrived in Boston, where he would eventually apprentice under John Cony as a goldsmith. Apollos Rivoire is remembered by history thanks to the accomplishments of the third of his twelve children.
