  7. In 1830 Prior Park College opened as a school for the first time. The College Chapel was built in the 1870's and designed by Joseph Scoles in the tradition of a Roman Basilica. Named Our Lady of the Snows, some parts were never completed, such as the columns at the western end. There have been two major fires during the Mansion's history.
