エリオットはエズラ・パウンドの詩に“Possum”という渾名で登場することが多く、ポッサムおじさんとは自身の渾名にちなんだタイトルである。 『キャッツ - ポッサムおじさんの猫とつき合う法』 は、イギリスの詩人T・S・エリオットによる子供向けの詩集である。
