It is a listed building and the oldest one still in use in the town. Our establishment is a restaurant and pub with an excellent reputation for serving traditional homemade British dishes.

9 de mai. de 2024 · The story behind Wellington is that it was created to celebrate Arthur Wellesley, Irish general of the British army, becoming the first Duke of Wellington. Allegedly, the dish commemorated the victory the Duke had over Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

The site is named for Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, who defeated Napoleon Bonaparte’s French army in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Note that it is considered a victory arch by locals, despite being initially built as an entrance to Hyde Park.
