The Los Rios Community College District is the second-largest community college district in California. Our colleges are American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College. We also have six education centers and specialized workforce and economic development programs for local businesses, governments, and organizations.

In July 1965, the Los Rios Junior College District was founded when voters in 10 separate school districts covering five counties opted to consolidate. The election established a regional college district of 2,400 square miles and brought together, under one governing board, the then existing Sacramento City and American River colleges.
