  1. Prince Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy-Aosta, Infante of Spain, Count of Turin (24 November 1870 – 10 October 1946) was a grandchild of King Victor Emmanuel II and a member of the House of Savoy. He was a cousin of Victor Emmanuel III .

  2. His coffin laid in state at the Sant'uberto Chapel on the eve of the funeral service, and his wife Princess Marina, 88, and their son Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Venice, 51, remained at his side.

  3. It is dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of Italy. It was wanted by his son, King Umberto I, and paid him at his own expense. The monument, in bronze and granite, is the work of architect Pietro Costa. It was erected between 1882 and 1899, through many contrasts [clarification needed] with the Turin municipal government.
