Cavalleria rusticana by Domenico Monleone was an copyrighted infringed work in 1907 based on this work that was banned in Italy from being performed at the time. Monleone changed the work beyond recognition to a completely new work with the same music with a new libretto called " La giostra dei falchi " in 1914.
