This famous diamond is white in color and before it was cut, the original Cullinan diamond size was 621.35 grams, which translates to 1.369 pounds.
A 3106-ct colorless diamond crystal was found on January 25, 1905, at the Premier Mine (now called the Cullinan Mine) near Pretoria by one of the mine managers, Frederick Wells. While walking in an upper section of the mine, he noticed the crystal sparkling in the sun along the edge of the open pit at a depth of 18 feet below the land surface.
The Cullinan IV is a cushion shape diamond that weighs 63.60 carats. The stone was previously placed in the band of Queen Mary’s crown, but today it can be seen as the top part of Queen Elizabeth II’s pendant-brooch (as discussed above).
