Anthonis van Dyck: Selbstporträt (um 1640), National Portrait Gallery, London. Sir Anthonis van Dyck, flämisch Antoon van Dyck [vɑn ˈdɛik] (auch Anton van Dijck und Anthony van Dyck; * 22. März 1599 in Antwerpen; † 9. Dezember 1641 in London), war ein flämischer Maler und Grafiker des Barock.
Antoon van Dyck nasceu na cidade de Antuérpia (atual Bélgica) em 22 de março de 1599. Trabalhou como retratista na corte do rei inglês Carlos I e também para a Igreja. Van Dyck foi muito influenciado pela arte maneirista veneziana, principalmente por artistas como Veronese e Ticiano.
Van Dyck worked in London for some months in 1621, then returned to Flanders for a brief time, before travelling to Italy, where he stayed until 1627, mostly in Genoa. In the late 1620s he completed his greatly admired Iconography series of portrait etchings, mostly of other artists.

Van Dyck was the seventh of 12 children of Frans van Dyck, a well-to-do silk merchant. At the age of 10, he was apprenticed to Hendrik van Balen, a successful Antwerp painter, and he must soon have come under the influence of Rubens, who after 1608 assumed undisputed leadership of art in Antwerp.
