Bertram Kostant (* 24. Mai 1928 in Brooklyn , New York; † 2. Februar 2017 in Roslindale , Boston) [1] war ein US-amerikanischer Mathematiker , der sich mit Lie-Gruppen , Lie-Algebren , Darstellungstheorie , homogenen Räumen , Differentialgeometrie (symplektischer Geometrie, symmetrischen Räumen) und mathematischer Physik (beispielsweise Toda-Gittern ) beschäftigte.
This volume, dedicated to the memory of the great American mathematician Bertram Kostant (May 24, 1928 – February 2, 2017), is a collection of 19 invited papers by leading mathematicians working in Lie theory, representation theory, algebra, geometry, and mathematical physics.
In this third volume of Bertram Kostant's collected papers, the reader will engage in Works published between 1978 and 1990 of one of the major architects of modern Lie theory. Virtually all his papers are pioneering with deep consequences, many giving rise to whole new fields of activities.
